Decimals are out of 100.
A time to decimal calculator changes how a duration is written, not how long it is. Because an hour contains 60 minutes, divide the minutes by 60 and add the whole hours.
Convert hours and minutes to decimal
For 7 hours 45 minutes, the result is 7.75 hours. A decimal value of 7.45 means 7 hr 27 min; the decimal digits are not minutes.
Convert decimal hours to hours and minutes
Multiply decimal hours by 60 to get total minutes, round to the nearest whole minute, then separate hours from the remaining minutes. For example, 7.75 hours equals 465 minutes, or 7 hr 45 min. A value of 1.999 hours rounds to 2 hr 0 min.

Frequently asked questions
Why do some decimal conversions repeat?
Some fractions of an hour have repeating decimal digits. One minute is 1 ÷ 60 = 0.016666… hours. We show up to four decimal places. If you are totaling shifts, use the time card tool so rounding happens after the minutes are added.
Can I enter more than 59 minutes?
The minutes field represents the part left after whole hours, so use 0–59. For 90 minutes, enter 1 hour and 30 minutes. Enter 0 explicitly if there are no hours or no minutes.
What precision and limits are supported?
Use up to 1,000,000 whole hours and 59 minutes in the first converter, or up to 1,000,000 decimal hours with at most 12 decimal places in the second. Decimal-to-time results use the nearest whole minute; they do not show seconds.
